June 10th is World Pet Memorial Day

The benefits of having pets are too numerous to count.  They are our companions, our friends, and to some they are even considered family, but the one downfall of being a pet owner is that a vast majority of pets have a much shorter lifespan than their human companions.  The loss of a pet can be extremely difficult, even though we have many cherished memories from the time the pet spent in our lives.  On June 10th, pet lovers around the world will be celebrating those cherished times and the memories of pets that have passed.  We encourage pet owners to take the time to share a memory of a cherished pet with family and friends.  Many pet owners find that this is a great time to donate to animal shelters in honor of previous pets or perhaps, if they are ready, it is a time to consider adopting a new pet.  Volunteering at a local pet rescue or animal shelter is also a wonderful way to honor the memory of your cherished friend.  Some families and friends even hold small memorial services where they pay their respects to the animals that have touched their lives.  It does not matter what species of pet enriched your life, furry, feathered, or scaled, all cherished pets are remembered on this day around the world.

Ask us at Animal Central for more ideas on how to commemorate the life you shared with your beloved pet.
