Since 1999, Pet Sitters International has been celebrating Take Your Dog to Work Day. The purpose of this celebration is to encourage adoption of our canine companions from shelters, humane societies, and rescue organizations. This day highlights the bond that is shared between humans and their four-legged best friends. Businesses are encouraged to open their doors and welcome their employees and their (well behaved) furry friends with open arms. For those that are not able to bring their dog to work due to the type of work they perform, we encourage you to share treasured memories of your furry pal. Don’t work on Fridays? Take your dog to work day is also a great day to volunteer to work at shelters and humane societies to assist them in finding suitable, loving homes for some of their canine tenants. For those of you that were unaware that Take Your Dog to Work Day exists, you now have an entire year in which to convince your employer to open your office for Take Your Dog to Work Day 2013! For everyone that is planning to participate, Pet Sitters International is holding a photo contest, so be sure to catch some candid pictures of your dog’s Take Your Dog to Work Day experience.
